An instrument of this pedigree naturally deserves to shine on stage, which is why Takamine has built in their advanced CoolTube CTP-3 preamp, which runs on a 12AU7 dual-triode vacuum tube at very low voltages, giving you rich tube-induced tone that can be adjusted from clear and sparkly to husky and warm. The Palathetic undersaddle pickup also takes things quite a bit further than your standard piezo pickup, featuring six individually shielded, piezo-electric elements that are in direct contact with the saddle via the soundboard and bridge plate. The result is broad-ranging, accurately amplified sound that can then be extensively fine-tuned with the small army of knobs and sliders of the CoolTube preamp.
